ABWP Annual Fund

At the core of the ABWP Annual Fund is a deeply rooted commitment to the mission of the Association of Black Women Physicians. From the beginning, charter members understood that we must continuously build a multifaceted organization that speaks as much to physician’s brains as to their hearts, as much to intellectual discovery as to the spirit of friendship. The ABWP Annual Fund is the Association’s most powerful means of reaffirming and sustaining the founding vision. Contributions to the Annual Fund will finance annual operating costs for a given fiscal year.
How does the ABWP Annual Fund honor our commitment to mentorship, community service and sisterhood?

  • By supporting students in tangible and measurable ways
The Annual Fund provides scholarship funds and contributes to virtually every program that ABWP pursues.

  • By providing financial backing for the Wellness Series
The Annual Fund fuels civic engagement and leverages physician knowledge for the underserved communities of the greater Los Angeles area.
  • By promoting networking and sisterhood amongst female physicians and physicians in training

  • By providing long-term strength and stability.
The Annual Fund serves as a funding bridge between what will be accomplished upon the culmination of the Legacy Campaign - a seven to ten year fundraising effort - and what needs to be funded today. Unrestricted, immediate-use funds will ensure the success of the campaign through a time of significant transformation and enhancements.

We hope you will join the ABWP Annual Fund in supporting the Legacy Campaign. With your help, ABWP will continue to do what it has always done — provide invaluable community service, off set the rising costs of medical education, promote a sense of association between our members, and further our renowned Sister 2 Sister mentoring program.

Ways to Give

We welcome your participation in the Annual Fund and encourage you to consider the campaign priority most meaningful to you. Your gift can take several forms and, in addition to benefiting ABWP, may provide powerful tax or estate planning benefits to you.

Outright Gifts
: You may make a commitment to the Legacy Campaign — for expendable needs, facilities or endowment — and fund it with cash, securities, real estate or other assets. Gifts of appreciated property can provide greater tax benefits than giving cash. Our staff can work with you and your advisor to facilitate a gift that will be the most advantageous for you.

: You may pledge an amount to the gift opportunity of your choice and arrange to pay it in installments over five years.

Life Income Gifts
: There are a number of gift vehicles that provide donors with income, flexibility and tax benefits, as well as providing a benefit to the university. We can work with you and your adviser to create an appropriate gift plan.

Bequest Intention
: You may make a provision for ABWP in your estate plans, assuring a legacy that lasts beyond your lifetime.

Matching Gifts
: You can leverage your own giving if your employer offers a gift matching program, and you will be credited for the total amount.
