Association of Black Women Physicians and Black
Women Lawyers Elegant surroundings; breathtaking views of the Los Angeles basin and
ocean; great food and inspiring presenters characterized a spectacular
evening. The Black Women Lawyers of Los Angeles and the Association of
Black Women Physicians held their 2007 joint symposium at the distinguished
City Club at Bunker Hills, Los Angeles on April 18th. This signature event
has occurred annually for over a decade. The standing room only meeting consisted of attorneys; physicians; and community organization representatives. They all assembled to listen to dynamic presenters on the topic of: Sisters Helping Sisters-Confronting the Problems of Substance Abuse Among Women in Our Professions.

The evening concluded with MetLife conducting drawings to both groups for day spa treatments. The lectures were facilitated by Carole Jordan-Harris, M.D., M.S. who has spearheaded this event since its inception. Much credit is extended to the committee organizers. Appreciation goes out to Audrea Golding-Bitler, Esq., President-Elect of BWL (Black Women Lawyers; Carole Jordan-Harris, M.D., M.S. and 2007 Executive Board Parliamentarian/Charter Member of Association of Black Women Physicians and Sandra Bankhead, Executive Director, ABWP (Association of Black Women Physicians). We are excited to begin the presentation of physicians within our membership as had been mentioned in our first edition. You can look forward to enjoying the reading of our various compelling bios. This portion of our newsletter, PulsePoint will begin in June, 2007. The Association of Black Women Physicians welcomes membership throughout the country.
