Calling all future healthcare leaders!

The Association of Black Women Physicians (ABWP) awards female medical students from medically underserved communities each year with our Rebecca Lee Crumpler, MD Scholarship. This annual scholarship empowers female medical students residing in or attending medical school nationally.

Each year at our Annual Charity & Scholarship Benefit Gala, we fundraise to support the Rebecca Lee Crumpler, MD Scholarships that are then awarded to local deserving female medical students from medically underserved backgrounds. For over four decades, the ABWP has championed the cause of women in medicine, supporting physicians, trainees, and medical/undergraduate students through initiatives like our Scholarship Gala. Thanks to the generous support of sponsors and community partners, ABWP has awarded over a million dollars in scholarships.

Why Apply?  Scholarships are awarded based on a combination of financial need and academic merit.  But most importantly, we seek outstanding candidates who embrace the ABWP's mission.

Scholarship Mission

To financially support the female medical students and for the improvement of public health and welfare through the advancement of knowledge concerning women and community health.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants must be female medical students who are within the United States of America and in good academic standing at an accredited U.S. medical or osteopathic school.

How Winners are Selected

Selection is based on financial need and academic merit.
