Apply for Government Loan Repayment in Return for Service

In November, Vice President Harris announced a historic investment  that will enable the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) to make an unprecedented number of loan repayment awards to medical, dental, and behavioral health professionals working in underserved communities across the country. 

The $800 million in American Rescue Plan funding gives the most clinicians in history the opportunity to receive up to $100,000 in loan repayment as part of the National Health Service Corps. In her remarks, Vice President Harris noted the funding will help diversify the health workforce and provide access to equitable health care for all Americans.

Applications Accepted through February 3

Physicians are eligible for three separate National Health Service Corps programs accepting applications through February 3. Physicians choose the program that best suits their eligibility, including:

• NHSC Loan Repayment Program – Up to $50,000 for two years of full-time service at an NHSC-approved site
• NHSC Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Workforce Loan Repayment Program – Up to $75,000 for three years of full-time service at an NHSC-approved SUD treatment facility
• NHSC Rural Community Loan Repayment Program – Up to $100,000 for three years of full-time service at a rural, NHSC-approved SUD treatment facility
